All Levels Aerial Yoga

Mail Attachment-8

Unnata® Aerial Yoga offers authentic yoga with the support of a soft, aerial fabric hammock to explore, refine and advance traditional asana, both in the air and on the ground. Relax and realign the body, center the mind and uplift the spirit. Experience physical release, refined strength, energetic flow, and awareness of breath and body. Supported by the hammock, you’ll let go into gravity, deepen your practice, and awaken a “yogic high.”

Pre-Requisite: Open to all students of all levels.

Aerial Cirque/Sling

Interest in aerial yoga and the aerial arts is growing at a fast pace. Aerial yoga students naturally gravitate toward aerial sling/hammock classes. A foundation in sling provides excellent preparation for all other aerial apparatus as skills acquired in this class are often transferrable to lyra, dance trapeze and two-panel silks. Aerial cirque/sling is a dynamic and challenging class which helps you build strength, stamina, flexibility and competence in aerial skills and techniques. This class is more vigorous than a typical aerial yoga class and previous experience with aerial yoga and/or aerial fabric is strongly recommended. For the beginning student, take our Introduction to Aerials class series prior to taking this class or meet the pre-requisites listed below.

Pre-Requisite: Previous experience with aerial yoga or aerial silks/hammock is required to take this class. You must be able to enter and release hip hang and back straddle on your own. Comfort and ease with standing in the fabric and inverting is a plus. Please email jayne@ctaerialyoga.com if you are uncertain if this class style is appropriate for your level of experience.

Aerial Hoop/Lyra

Hoop, also called Lyra, is a steel ring hung vertically. Our hoop is attached to a single point with a swivel. This class is geared toward beginning and advanced beginning students. Using this aerial apparatus you will learn how to safely mount and dismount the apparatus. Skills are developed through learning tricks and poses underneath, inside, and on top of the hoop. Sequencing from one position to another is also emphasized. Each class begins with a thorough warm up that includes strength conditioning and flexibility exercises and a brief cool down. Pre-registration is required to attend this class. Maximum of 5 students.

Pre-Requisite:Open to all students of all levels. Want to learn more about this class? Please email jayne@ctaerialyoga.com

Aerial Silks

Aerial silks, also known as tissue or aerial fabrics has become one of the most popular aerial/circus apparatuses. Rigged as two hanging panels of fabric from a central ceiling point, aerial silks is one of the most visually stunning and physically ambitious disciplines within the blossoming cirque community. Students use climbing, wrapping, and locks to create poses and choreography of grace, beauty, and strength, all while hanging in the air. Our classes are designed to help beginning students understand the theory behind fabric, and gain strength while creating elegant shapes in the air. With guided training and strength conditioning, Silks can be a unique way to motivate your next workout, or express your creative outlet.

Pre-Requisite: NONE! Come fly with us! While not required, class experience enhanced by being in good physical condition, having an open and flexible attitude, and most importantly, a sense of humor and passion for learning. Given the physical demands of this apparatus, we currently offer this class as a 4-week series class only.

Open Studio

Need time to perfect what you learned in class? Come to open studio, every Thursday at 6:30pm. Our fabrics are long, our ceiling is high and we have plenty of room to play, explore, train and get that Instagram video! Open studio is self-guided and no instruction is offered. Practice safely and don’t attempt tricks that you are not yet confident with. Instructing, coaching or teaching others is not permitted at open studio.

Pre-Requisite: Open to current CAY students only. You must have taken a class with us in the last 6 months to attend open studio. Pre-registration is required. Maximum of 5 spaces available. You may bring your own equipment (CAY staff will put up and take down). Aerial silks and hoop are available by request (if space is available). Questions and requests, Email jayne@ctaerialyoga.com.

Aerial Dance

Make beautiful shapes in the fabric and build your aerial fabric repertoire. Discover the aerial dancer within during this innovative, uplifting class. In aerial dance, we put it all together: a little bit of floor dance choreography followed by a big dose of innovative aerial sequencing all set to music.

Pre-Requisite: Previous experience with aerial yoga (1-2 classes) is required before taking this class. You must be able to enter and release hip hang and back straddle on your own. Comfort and ease with standing in the fabric and inverting is a plus. Questions? Please email jayne@ctaerialyoga.com

Aerial Yin/Restorative (Low Hammock)

Low Hammock. Long holds. Luxurious practice. Longer held postures devoted to softening, nourishing, hydrating and restoring the deeper, denser connective tissue of the body (ligaments, tendons, bones, fascia). Our goal is deep relaxation and meditation resulting in a refreshing practice. A great class for those who prefer grounded inversions.

Pre-Requisite: Open to all students of all levels.

Private, Semi-private, and small group classes
