Welcome to aerial bar night! We alternate using the hoop (lyra) and trapeze to teach you all the beginner and level 1 skills on the two most popular hard bar apparatuses. Discover the crossover between these two dynamic aerial practices.
About Lyra: Our steel hoops are taped and hung vertically from a single point on a swivel allowing you to float and spin in beautiful poses. In this class, you will learn mounts, dismounts, skills, sequences, and smooth transitions from one skill to another. Skills are developed through learning tricks and poses underneath and inside the hoop. This class begins with a thorough warm-up designed to prepare the body for aerial work and ends with a brief cool-down.
About Dance Trapeze: Dance trapeze or ‘single point’ trapeze is a great way to start your aerial practice or to supplement your existing practice. The trapeze bar is rigged low to the ground and provides a stable base, while the ropes, hung from one point on a swivel, form a ‘V’ and allow the aerialist to climb, wrap, create shapes, and invert. You will recognize many sling and lyra skills as they appear on the dance trapeze. Dance trapeze is a compelling and popular apparatus for aerial acrobatics and contemporary dance. This class is appropriate for beginners as well as more experienced students.
